WELCOME TO GEOGRAPHY AND CULTURE WITH MS. ROTTNER

 

This year in Social Studies is going to be an amazing experience!  Your whirlwind tour of our world will take your mind to places that will expand and challenge your ideas of our world! Exploration of people, places, and culture will open your eyes to the marvelous wonders of the world around you!  I can't wait to share the experiences that lie ahead with each and every one of you!

Tuesday, December 15: Complete the station activities if not done in class today.  Necessary resources are listed and linked below.

Monday, December 14:  View the Voicethread or read the article about the DMZ.  Click on this link and look for the additional link to the Voicethread entitled Borderline Absurdity: A Fun-Filled Tour of the Korean DMZ. You can either view the Voicethread for a photo narration of the article or read the article.

 

Wednesday, December 9:  Complete the reading packet 'A Nuclear North' and answer the adjoining page of questions for tomorrow.

 

Monday, December 7:  No homework

 

Thursday, December 3:  Write 15-20 crossword puzzle clues and answers using your world religion resources.  You musthave them in class tomorrow in order to generate your crossword puzzle.  Click here for the handout, but unless you will be absent on Friday only do 'Day 1' activity.  If you are not going to be in class on Friday, you should also do the activity for 'Day 2'.

 

Wednesday, December 2: Complete the second side of the Religion Chart by using the second informational packet given in class today.  If you were absent, you need to see me upon returning to school for the packet.  It is not an online post.

 

Tuesday, December 1:  Complete the first side of the Religion Chart by using the information packet given in class today.  If you were absent, please see me upon returning to school for the handouts. 

 

Monday, November 30:  No homework, but do see me for notes from today.

 

Monday, November 16:  Research your personal topic for your Everest topic and bring in your portion to class tomorrow.

 

Wednesday, November 4:  Review for tomorrow's quest!

 

Monday, November 2:  Complete the Movement Activity for tomorrow.

 

Thursday, October 29: Begin reviewing for next Thursday's 'Quest'.  The REVIEW SHEET will help you get ready!

 

 

Wednesday, October 28:  No Homework

 

 

Monday, October 26: Complete the Latitude and Longitude Matching sheet for tomorrow.  This is not available online.

 

 

Wednesday, October 21:  Complete the handout 'Pinpointing Major Cities' for tomorrow.  This is not available online, so make sure if you are absent you get a copy from the bin when you return.

 

 

Tuesday, October 20:  No Homework.  However, if you were not in class today please make sure you get a copy of the guided notes sheet when you return.

 

 

Monday, October 19:  Absolute vs. Relative Location Handout.  This is not available online, so please see me if you need a copy.  Due Tuesday.

Friday, October 16:  5-Themes of Geography WEBQUEST.  Please use the POWERPOINT

 

 

as your resource.  Due on Monday if not completed in class today. 

Wednesday, October 14:  No homework, but if you were absent today you should complete the in-class 5 Themes of Geography vocabulary activity

 

 

so we can go over it when you return. 

 

 

Tuesday, October 6:  Be sure to make any last minute additions or changes to your Global Citizen Project by tomorrow morning.  Also, if you have not presented in class, be sure to have your presentation ready for Thursday!

Wednesday, September 30-Monday, October 5:  You can begin working on your final project using Google Docs.  However, be sure that the content of your project has been revised as needed before you begin the technology portion of the project.  Also, don't forget to complete your Easybib!  Project is due at the end of class on Monday, Otober 5.

 

 

Monday, September 21-Wednesday, September 23:  In class you received your Global Citizen Graphic Organizer (linked above the yellow homework bar) and many important pieces of information.  Your organizer is due at the end of class on Thursday of this week.  Please plan accordingly...you will have the next three class days to work on this research.

Thursday, September 17:  Fill out your Global Citizen Choice Sheet as best you can.  You will have 20 minutes maximum in class tomorrow to complete this and turn it in to me for approval.  If you need assistance in making your choices, you can use the following LMC resource:  Global Leaders

Thursday, September 10:  Homework is 'To Be Determined' by your group each day as you work on your in-class group activity.  If you need to take a look again at the product descriptor you can click here

Tuesday, September 8: Bring in 7-10 facts that reflect the Millennium Goal that you received in class yesterday.  Facts can be in bullet points and can be handwritten or typed.

 

 

Friday, September 4: Please complete the Words for the World activity for Tuesday if you did not turn it in today in class.  If you cannot get the Wordle to work from home, be sure you have a typed copy of your writing in class.  You can also add an image in place of a Wordle.

Thursday, September 3: Words for the World

 

 

due tomorrow in class.  You should have a hard copy available (either typed or written) but should also try to bring it in as a Microsoft Word document ready to be opened at school.

on the UN Cyberschoolbus website.  We covered goals 1-4 in most classes today!
